Shore Drive Resident Charged with Defrauding FEMA

According to NJ.com a vacant property on 5th Street owned by Martin Kiely, of Shore Drive in Highlands, was damaged by Hurricane Irene in 2011 and again by Sandy in 2012, Kiely subsequently filed an application with FEMA for damages after both hurricanes and claimed the 5th Street home was the primary residence of him and his two children, authorities said.

Kiely was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts third-degree theft by deception. If convicted of those charges, Kiely faces a sentence of three to five years in prison on each count.
