    • No robo calls here but no landline either. Can I ask who they were for and if there was any sponsorship mentioned?

  1. One was Rebecca Kane asking me to vote for her, and the other was Frank Nolan asking me to vote for Rick O’Neil and Larry Colby. I don’t have a land line either; the calls went to the land line of the house I stayed in after Sandy.

    • So Rebecca knows how to use reverse 911 when it comes to getting the message to vote for her…. And Nolan seems to know about it to get people to vote for who he’s backing… What other reasons could they have possibly used reverse 911 for yesterday… hmmm..

  2. Well HB, you seem to be accusing a member of our Borough Council and our Mayor of using public facilities for personal gain. Please explain how they went about accessing the reverse 911 line. On what do you base your accusations? I find your tactics not only despicable but appalling. The guano has a better smell to it.

    • Get over yourself. If you read the comments above you would have understood that @sevenstars received 2 robo calls, one from Rebecca asking people to vote for her and one from Frank Nolan asking people to vote for Colby and Oneil. You’re the one making baseless accusations. If you want to know how she accessed the system, I suggest you ask her over your next family dinner, I’m sure she can explain it to you.

  3. Seems to me, you, HB, were the one to bring reverse 911 into the conversation My accusation of fact is far from baseless. It would be best to remember that libel is the written publication of a defamatory remark that has the tendency to injure another’s reputation or character. Libel also includes publication on radio, audio or video and in this case an extremely negative blog. Having said that, I ask you again, on what do you base your libelous comments???

    • The other component of Libel has to be untrue.. Becky and Frank had robo calls go out yesterday to “certain” voters, “One was Rebecca Kane asking me to vote for her, and the other was Frank Nolan asking me to vote for Rick O’Neil and Larry Colby.” see above from Sevenstars. Plus I know other people that received them. Before you jump on me, why don’t you call her and ask.

But keep it up, if she looses it won’t because of me, it’ll be because of you. You’ve done more damage to her campaign than I could have hoped for.

    • Did anybody that received a call remember what the callerid said?

According to the town website the Swift 911 service, is there to ‘provide more reliable communications with Residents [and Businesses] in the borough, we [town of Highlands] have implemented Swiftreach Networks, Inc. as our Emergency Notification service provider.

Swift911™ in its simplest form is a system that makes phone calls to specific people or areas in the event of an emergency or *for sharing important information*. All the calls you receive will have the Caller ID of ‘Highlands Township’ or ‘Highlands Police Department’.’

    • cross posting this from FB:

I highly doubt it was the Swift 911. There are a bunch of services out there that do RoboCalls one is callfire.com where you record a message then the calls are made. At the end of the Mayor’s message, he left a call back number. At the office so can’t check it now.

    • The land line that received the calls is hooked up to an old phone without caller ID, so I don’t know what numbers rang it. All I can tell you is that the land line in question belongs to a relative who doesn’t live in Highlands. It isn’t a number I would normally give out for myself, as I usually use my cell phone. But as I did stay there after the storm, I would have used it temporarily until my own phone was working.

    • But you don’t know? I don’t know what is worse, that fact we *have* a system for communication for emergencies and important information, that we don’t seem to use OR the fact when do have important information to disseminate we use a totally different messaging system. So both of them could have used totally different messaging systems. Brilliant.
