Jan 30 is New Moon = Flooding in Highlands

New Moonmoon Alert in Highlands. There will be a new moon on Jan 30. Anybody that was here in ’92 will remember that was a “new moon” nor’easter.

When the moon is new, the gravitational pull of the moon and sun are combined. So during these particular times the high tides are very high and the low tides are very low.  The gravitational forces of the Moon and the Sun both contribute to these types of tides.

So watch the street and be prepared to move your cars.

  1. You think that the town should be sending out DPW to clear snow off storm drains? It really would help residents. There are too little people living on these blocks to handle clearing there own property, cars, steps, sidewalks to be doing what town should be responsible for doing for the safety of the residents and their property. With all these unoccupied home we need extra help handling these situations.

    • Yes but shouldn’t town be proactive about these conditions without having to call or FB? Just rhetorical cause I know it’s probably not a realty.

    • Good luck with that. Besides, they probably don’t check facebook anyway since it isn’t “official.”

The ice is back today too. Seastreak went out of Connors this morning, but is going back into Atlantic tonight because of ice.
