(Sandy Hook, NJ)…. Sandy Hook Child Care Center (SHCCC), a parent-run non-profit daycare and state licensed preschool, is holding a ceremony in honor of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting victims on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 9:30AM dedicating their recently planted “New Beginnings” tree to the victims. Each SHCCC child will be making a star ornament adorned with one of the 26 victim’s names. They will then be hung on the tree by family and children of SHCCC.
SHCCC is located in the Sandy Hook National Recreation Area in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Like most areas impacted by Hurricane Sandy, Sandy Hook was devastated which sadly forced the daycare to close for over 6 months. SHCCC’s “New Beginning’s” tree was planted to represent the hard times the school faced while closed and continued effort to overcome any hardships they face.
Established in 1980, for over thirty years the Sandy Hook Child Care Center ‘has provided a one of a kind learning experience for the children of the community. Nestled inside historic Sandy Hook National Recreation area, the environment is their curriculum. With no more than 13 children on any day, exceptional teacher-child ratios, affordable rates, free participation in the popular Junior Park Rangers program as well as a newly refurbished and equipped playroom, SHCCC provides an unparalleled learning environment for local children.
