VFW to Benefit From Volunteer Project

vfwHighlands VFW will get a renovation boost on Friday (Nov. 8) through a special volunteer project organized by the Verizon Foundation, Scripps Networks Interactive and Rebuilding Together. Interior designer Tiffany Brooks, winner of this season’s “HGTV Star will be making a special appearance.

More than 30 volunteers from Verizon, Scripps Networks Interactive, Rebuilding Together and the local community will meet at the VFW hall from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to paint interior walls and railings, handicap ramps and front steps at the building’s entrance; replace damaged ceiling tiles in the hall; and remove weeds and clear debris from around the property.

I just noticed on Mayors FB page that Nolan and a bunch of other suits(Pallone included) showed up for photo op as they obviously weren’t there to actually do any work? Just my opinion but if your going to show up at event like that come ready to actually contribute not just take a picture. Just sayin:) It really annoys me that Pallone shows up for every event for a photo op given he has totally overlooked this town as far as allocating Sandy funds.

I wish I had known they were going to be there. I’d have loved to get his take on why our town is lacking in grant money compared to other local towns.
