  1. The fifth street house has just been bought by a family member who is looking to fix up and keep the carriage house look then rent it. The one on Miller, sadly she just doesn’t have the money to fix it. Haven’t seen her in ages 😦

  2. I feel for the owner of the Miller St house. Where are all the resources?? Volunteers, donated building materials, etc? Would she be a candidate for Habitat for Humanity or some similar group?

  3. I find it a shame that people can create a poll and laugh at other peoples misfortune. Instead of spending your time. On hurtful bullshit. (we can see how much you have to do all day!) why not spend some of your time positively helping other people. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
This is a great way to show what a close knit, loving community the Highlands is to live.
Let me ask you a question. What if one of these families suffered a Tramatic loss..and this was not their first priority. How would you know? Have you even asked if they needed any help?

  4. Most, not all of these homes have been abandoned and in disrepair prior to storm. People on this blog live on these blocks and know the deal with their neighbors and homes around them. You presume the people of Highlands don’t know their own community? This shows that we are a tight knit community and want to continue to live as one without the dangers of these hones that have mold and electric exposed to salt water that are fire hazards, wild animals and rodents taking over….how long do you propose the community waits for some sense of safety or normalcy? As @No Longer New said … Where is the help for people who need it? Many donations and volunteers that wanted to help where have they gone?
For record Anna many of the people on this blog was flooded out and fought every bit of BS and red tape to get home so your attitude is a little insulting to those who went through hell to rebuild and get home and care about our neighborhoods.
