Invesigation leads to arrests in Highlands


A several month investigation resulted in the arrest of six Highlands men who were charged with various cocaine and marijuana related offenses after authorities executed a search warrant at the 297 Bay Avenue upper apartment above the Claddagh Bar.

Juan E. Guzman, 37, Juan A. Hoyos, 33, Margarito Martinez, 52 Mario Salazar, 23 and Oscar Carbrera, 25 were all charged with possession of marijuana and then released on their own recognizance.  Jose Salazar, 27, was charged with possession of cocaine and paraphernalia  was held in lieu of $10,000 bond. He remains in the Monmouth County Jail.

    The last time I inquired about that very issue regarding occupancy of appartments, I was told they dont check this when they issue a c/o. i dont know if this has changed at all.

    Also, I have to say Im always relieved when I read a story like this and it didnt involve me! Its like reading the obituaries and being glad your name is not there. Is that weird? LOL
