New Quick Chek Finally Opening in Highlands Tuesday 3/12

Quick_ChekThe New Quick Chek On Rt 36 in Highlands is finally opening on Tuesday at 5 AM. The old one is currently closed with a sign out front, ‘see you in our NEW location on Tuesday Morning.’  Originally supposed to be open in January 2013, the opening was delayed due to Hurricane Sandy. ~ Now I don’t have to run to WaWa to get gas.

CVS is said to be exploring moving across the street and taking over the old Quick Chek location.

  1. Don’t forget to support our local businesses!! Cumberland Farms has been open, it’s gas is within 2-3 cents of the WaWa’s and quick cheks, and it employs local residents, returns taxes to our local economy. We need Cumberland and it’s convenience and if we don’t patronize it, it could go away.

    • Oh I’m sure they’ve worked out some kind of a deal with the town….they have much better lawyers than the average tax payer.

    • When has their gas ever been within 2-3 cents of anything? This is the same business that got scolded and fined in the past for their over eager price raising. Maybe if they were actually comparably priced people would visit them!

  2. If the town keeps discouraging people from wanting to rebuild like summons and tax liens for debri removal and charging for permits when residents have been more than clear their insurance doesn’t pay for it while surrounding towns are waiving for their residents, there will be nobody left to patronize local establishments. Can’t keep kicking people while they’re down or they will walk away and will be bigger problems. I just don’t understand why people keep choosing not to see the obvious. It is really sad!

    • As long as you can see New Yawk from Highlands, there will ALWAYS be people with too much money willing to move here.

Have they started cleaning up yet for Clam Fest?

    • Yep to Atlantic Highlands, or the Monmouth Hills but not downtown Highlands. If that were true we wouldn’t have so many renters before Sandy. If there is no real change things will get way worse before better. No doubt.

  3. Does anyone know what was going on with the reflective vest platoon on the river side of the Hook yesterday? We even had a tug moored within shouting distance of this crew, some of them were using a small runabout in between the Hook shoreline and the tug. Watching over the whole bunch was a Coast Guard helicopter that made several passes.
