FREE legal services for some Highlands Residents


ImageOcean-Monmouth Legal Services, Inc. (OMLS) is willing to provides free legal assistance in civil cases to qualified low-income and elderly residents of Ocean and Monmouth Counties involving Sandy issues. To contact them: 732 866 0020

Potential Legal Services include:

• Denial of FEMA assistance/FEMA appeals

• National Flood Insurance/Insurance claims

• Tenancy issues, including evictions and the refusal by landlords to make needed repairs or to return security deposits to displaced renters

• Public Welfare issues related to Hurricane Sandy

• Claims arising from fraudulent services or hurricane related scams

Eligibility Requirements:

Eligible applicants income: (household of 1 income cannot exceed $27,925 per year)
**exceptions for those residents over 60 years of age

 If your income is higher, OMLS can take into consideration any storm related expenses that may be affecting your income.

Assets will be assessed and any that cannot be readily converted to cash to hire a private attorney can be discounted for eligibility purposes
