Highlands Predictions for 2013

DISCLAIMER: There are absolutely no facts to back up any of the following predictions

#1: Highlands Solution Center won’t actually open till Q2

#2: Only 4 more Highlands businesses will open by June 2013

#3: Only 20% of Highlands residents displaced by Sandy will return to their homes by Memorial day 2013

#4: Off The Hook will win the best float in the 2013 St Pattys Day Parade

#5: A developer will buy the block of land across from Huddy Park from Bay to Shore and build a 4 story parking garage with retail and restaurants on the top floor with a view of the water.

#6 Highlands will entertain the possibility of merging with another town.

#7 Highlands will see 10 feet of snow

#8 Another Earthquake will hit NJ and Highlands will feel the aftershock

#9 Dolphins will be seen swimming in the river next summer

#10 There will be a summer concert series in Connors Parking lot


  1. The very nice ladies at Boro Hall had absolutely no idea what I was talking about when I called to ask if/when the Solutions Center was open. I’m still waiting for them to call me back with this information, so 2Q 2013 would not be surprising at all. Maybe I can be back home by the end of summer at this rate, just in time for the next storm season.

    Why is the town (and our construction official) making it so difficult to rebuild? I’ve heard that others are having the same struggles with the maze of permits and inspections. Of course, it’s not like the insurance company has coughed anything up yet either, so it’s a double roadblock.
