The Gateway National Recreation Area, aka Sandy Hook, was created by Congress 40 years ago in July 1972. the Jersey peninsula was discovered by Henry Hudson and, historically, has been a convenient anchorage for ships before proceeding into Upper New York Harbor.

Audubon Society Bird Walk

Campfire on the Beach
