With the recent water situation and last years’ hurricane, I had the understanding that there *was* a reverse 911 in place. How you got on the list, remained a mystery. Until today. I was told “you need a land line”, “you just need to sign up”, well, I didn’t have a land line, and couldn’t find any info on the Highlands Borough web site to just sign up.
So, after further searching.. (thanks google) I found this page: Swift 911 where you can sign up for (also edit and delete your number). Swift 911 is a service which makes phone calls to specific people or areas in the event of an emergency or for sharing important information. All the calls you receive will have the Caller ID of ‘Highlands Township’ or ‘Highlands Police Department’.
Also, ever hear certain alert sounds and wonder what they were for? I found this link as well: Highlands Public Warning System
I thought there was a warning for flooding, but I guess not.. Although, it might be worth considering for those residents that have to move towards Shore Drive during Full Moons.
